New Years Nibbles and Peach Fizz

Sunday, December 29, 2013

It's coming up to New Years Eve when a lot of people go out and get as drunk as they can. But for those of you who are staying in or boring like me why not have some nibbles and a pretty drink. Now I think we'll be staying in with takeaway a few good films which sounds great to me. It's the perfect time to spend time with family and loved ones. Although with how tired I've been recently getting to midnight may be a problem.

So I came up with a couple of ideas for your NYE in. And do you know what the best part of it is, other than it being really tasty, it costs under £2. Perfect. I had to deal with "ergh chickpeas" but these taste amazing and they are a perfect healthy snack too.

A simple drink too, if you want to make it alcoholic you can add a sparkling wine but it tastes just as lovely without!

Dry roasted chickpeas

 - 1 tin of chickpeas
- salt & pepper to season

Preheat the oven to 220ºC/Gas Mark 8

Drain the chickpeas and blot dry with kitchen paper season with salt and pepper.

Place on a baking tray and put into the oven for around 30 minutes until dry.

Serve.

Peach Fizz

- tinned peaches
- lemonade or sparkling wine
- granulated sugar
-ice

Drain the peaches from the juice, put the juice aside. and place the peaches into a blender. Blitz until smooth.

Dip the jar/glass into some of the peach juice and then dip into granulated sugar.

Place ice into a jar/glass. Fill a quarter of the way up with blitzed peach. Top with lemonade/sparkling wine and serve.

Have a happy New Year!

  2. These both sound great! I'd imagine that adding some smoked paprika or chilli powder to the chickpeas would make them even more delicious! I love peaches too, why have I never thought of making a drink like this?! xx

    1. Yeah I've seen a few recipes that use spices, I'm sure that would be just as good! The drink is so easy, sometimes we overlook simple ingredients! :)
