Happy Valentines day! I hope you've been spoiled or if you're like us I hope your getting on with your day as normal. As I said in my last post we have so much going on in February that we don't really celebrate Valentines. We buy a card and then usually one of us cooks a meal for the other but this year we can't even be bothered to do that. Tomorrow we are hopefully going to spend they day together and we can roll all of the celebrations into one.

So this is the last Valentines themed post, I was originally going to post a biscuit recipe but I did that last year so I'm going to save the biscuits for another day! I have to admit this isn't really that "Valentines" but the waffles are heart shaped. That's enough isn't it? Although these are perfect to share especially with the easy chocolate dipping sauce.

I have a passion for cinnamon sugar and when we made doughnuts last time I had it on those. So to me it made sense to make cinnamon waffles coated in a cinnamon sugar. But it kind of felt that something was missing. Chocolate sauce. Usually chocolate sauce is made with some kind of cream but this chocolate sauce is made from store cupboard ingredients and works just as well.

Now I've waffled on (see what I did there!?) here's the recipe for you!

You will need -

A waffle maker

Waffles
3 eggs
150ml semi skimmed milk
230g self raising flour
30g  caster sugar
100g butter
1 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon

Cinnamon sugar
ground cinnamon
caster sugar

Chocolate sauce
50g cocoa powder
50g water
50g caster sugar

Melt the butter and then leave too cool slightly.

Whisk the eggs in a large bowl.

Add the butter, sugar, cinnamon and milk into a jug together.

Mix and fold in the flour to the eggs adding the butter mixture a little at a time.

You are then ready to cook your waffles. Go by your waffle makers instructions as they are probably all different.

To make the cinnamon sugar combine the cinnamon and sugar together. Add as much or as little cinnamon together as possible.

As soon as the waffles are done coat them well in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

To make the chocolate sauce add all the ingredients together in a saucepan. Stir over a low heat until the chocolate sauce is silky and smooth.

Serve the waffles with the chocolate sauce a dip until your hearts content!
