Yesterday we decided to make the most of the sunshine we've been having all week and stroll along the seafront. We're really lucky to have such a lovely beach on our doorstep and you can't beat a bit of fresh sea air. A lot of people are quick to badmouth our hometown and while it could be better we don't know how lucky we are. We have such a beautiful beach and the tacky arcades just add to that seaside experience. I'd rather live by the sea than be stuck in the middle of a built up city.

The kids ran through the fountains trying to avoid getting soaked which was semi-successful but luckily the sun beating down dried off any wet clothes and hair. It was funny to watch them run through and then a little dog joined in trying to eat the water that was coming out. It made entertaining viewing.

A trip to the beach requires a tray of chips (and an icecream, and doughnuts, we didn't get those sweet treats this time) and this visit didn't dissapoint we got a large tray each (hey, eating for two and all that!) and loaded it up with cheap seaside ketchup. We sat in the sun watching people walk past. There's something nostalgic about eating chips outside with a tiny wooden chip fork.

We stopped for some quick photos, you've got to make the most of the weather and the beautiful beach and then headed into the arcades. The kids wasted their money on the first game they saw which meant we didn't get a go on the 2p machines, which is clearly the best bit about arcades. After the arcades we took a slow walk home. It was a really lovely way to spend a couple of hours and make the most of the sunshine.

We filmed a little video, that we can look back on in years to come. I thought I'd share it with you. Click the video above.

How are you spending your weekend? Is the sunshine still out where you are?

  1. What a lovely post! (And vlog). I haven't been to a beach yet but cannot wait for it to get a little warmer to do so :)
