So I may have gone a bit Easter nest crazy over the past few weeks. I have a new found obsession for meringues so I HAD to make meringue nests. And it's not really Easter without chocolate so naturally I made cocoa swirled meringues. There's something about meringues and swirls you know.
And then last Saturday we decided that it was these three monkeys turn to make nests of their own. I love tradition and you can't beat the classic shredded wheat nest. They had a lot of fun and enjoyed eating them just as much as making them.
You can't do Easter or any holiday without cheesy cupcake cases and decorations and these ones were perfect. These aren't the most spectacular bakes but something that everyone can make and enjoy. I've got a few more easter recipes planned this week too. Make sure you keep a beady eye out!
Cocoa swirled meringues
Shredded wheat nests
200g milk chocolate, melted
85g shredded wheat, crushed
2 x 100g bags mini chocolate eggs
Pour the chocolate over the shredded wheat and stir well to combine.
Spoon the chocolate wheat into 12 cupcake cases and press the back of a teaspoon in the centre to create a nest shape.
Place 3 mini chocolate eggs on top of each nest. Chill the nests in the fridge for 2 hrs until set.
There will be a bowl of melted chocolate and if you're four there is no other option than to lick the bowl clean!
Looks like the little ones had such fun in the kitchen with you!
ReplyDeleteThey did! I wasn't too keen on the mess though haha.
