Valentines - Love heart chocolates.

Friday, January 31, 2014

I'm sorry. Valentines. I know. But it's the perfect time to eat anything heart shaped or red. So I thought that I'd bring you a few food and gift ideas for Valentines, that will be perfect whether you're with the one you love, your best friends or even on your own. And the best thing about all of the food and gifts that will be featured is they are all purse friendly (I know how January can leave you feeling skint still!)

Today's post are these beautiful homemade chocolates. The perfect thing about these is that they are so easy to make. You can't go wrong and all you need is some chocolate to melt and a few sprinkles. As for the mould, use what you have. No need to rush out and buy a special chocolate mould (although they are not that expensive if you have a look on ebay!). A silicon ice cube tray would work just as well. I think these are the perfect little gift for someone and it looks like you have gone to a lot more effort than you have.

You will need:

100g chocolate (use dark, milk or white - whatever takes your fancy)
Love heart sprinkles

Melt your chosen chocolate in the microwave. Stirring occasionally so the chocolate does not burn.

Whilst the chocolate is melting prepare your hold. Place three or more sprinkles in the bottom of the mould.

Pour the melted chocolate over the mould and smooth over with a knife (I used a palette knife)

Leave to set for at least an hour. DO NOT REFRIGERATE! (The chocolate will lose it's shine and go all white, no one wants that for Valentines!)

Once set take the chocolates out of the mould. Wrap in pretty tissue paper and present in a pretty box.

Perfect.
