Sesame, Cheddar and Parmesan twists.

Monday, September 29, 2014

I've been busy, really busy. I've been working full time hours for the past couple of weeks and my days off have been filled with errands so it's been really difficult to sit down a blog. So I'm going to get myself organised again and start planning things out.

I made these on Tuesday after a request from a certain someone. I have perfected this recipe over time. My mum makes amazing cheese straws and they just remind me of family Christmases, we would always sneak a few on Christmas Eve without mum knowing. We used to just use cheddar which tastes great but using Parmesan gives it even more cheesey-ness (I totally made this word up).

We came up with the idea of adding the sesame seeds after making a stir fry which had them in. It seemed like a great idea and it adds such a great flavour and texture to the cheese twists. The only issue with these is that they don't hang around for long!

Scroll down for the recipe.

You will need:

100g grated cheddar cheese
100g Parmesan cheese
a handful of sesame seeds (as many as you like)
50gs soft butter
100g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas 6

Put all of the ingredients into a food processor and blitz until the dough comes together

Roll the dough into a ball and wrap in clingfilm. Chill in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.

Roll out the dough on a floury surface cut into fingers and twist as them as you put them onto a lined baking tray.
.
Cook in the oven for 10 minutes.

The biscuits will continue to crisp up as they cool on a rack, so take them out when they're still a little soft in the middle.

Enjoy!
