5 Books Perfect For Your 1 Year Old

Wednesday, October 19, 2016

It's another month and time for me to share what books Edith has been enjoying. She got a few new books for her birthday and with mixed up her collection a little so she doesn't get bored. Again as with last month as couple of books are secondhand from charity shops or the book sale at the library.

Any one of these books would make a great 1st Birthday present. I do like to get children a book for birthdays or Christmas even if it just a cheap one. It really doesn't matter.

Another "That's Not My" book. There are great for kids. Edith loves a touch and feel book. Her favourite page is with the baby penguin. Her nanny taught her to tickle the baby penguin so every time we read it that's what we do!

10 In The Bed - David Ellwand
Edith likes to dance along to this one. We of course sing it to her. Although we've been a little bit naughty. When the bear falls of we hit the page and go "SPLAT" Edith finds it hilarious! This has been a firm favourite this month.

Ten Little Fingers & Ten Little Toes - Mem Fox & Helen Oxenbury

Edith's Nanny got her this book for 1p of Amazon. I'm so glad she did. It's just a lovely book. I've lost count of how many times we have read it this month. The illustrations are lovely and it's just a nice story. It's great for bedtime as it's gentle.

Dear Zoo - Rod Campbell

I picked this up for Edith's Birthday, It was brand new in a charity shop for 49p. I would have been mad to leave it. This again has been thoroughly enjoyed. Flap books go down as well as touch and feel. This book is a classic and it's a must for her bookshelf.

A friend got Edith this for her birthday. She's not that into  the words in the book yet but she just loves the tickle hands. It doesn't matter that she's not interested in the words yet as that will comes as she gets older. But she adores the tickly hands especially when it's her Daddy doing it.

I would love to know what books your little ones are enjoying as I'm always looking to expand our mini library. Let me know in the comments.

  1. Oh this is right up my street - we are always in the library and my son turns 1 next month so I am sure he will get lots of books for his birthday and Christmas. I will have to check some of these out - we have Dear Zoo and a few 'that's not my...' books. The tickle one looks awesome! We have a book series on our blog if you wanted to have a look! I think it's so important to read with little ones and my son absolutely loves books. #ablogginggoodtime

  2. These are fab books, and we love the That's not my.....series. My daughter loves playing with anything furry in these books, and the range is huge. We also have 10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes. This is our go to book and I've been reading it since our daughter was 3 months old. Reading is so important for children's development, and we are lucky we can easily have access to a huge range of books and at libraries. Thanks so much for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
