Picking our Christmas Tree with Lighthouse Clothing

On Saturday we headed out to pick our Christmas tree. This is something I've never done. In fact this is the first Christmas tree that we've had. Our old house was pretty small so we've had stick trees, washi tape trees and miniature trees but never a real Christmas tree.

We had planned things a little differently but Edith wasn't feeling to good so we headed out later than planned. It didn't make much difference. The farm was busy with other people picking out their tree. When we arrived people were putting on wellies and we thought oops maybe we should have worn more sensible footwear. Luckily the field wasn't too muddy. We passed people trying to put over-sized trees in the cars and laughing to ourselves.

The field is pretty huge and we followed everyone else. It was pretty cold but I was wrapped up in my gorgeous new Lighthouse Outrider Jacket. Oh my. I am in love with it. The detailing is just beautiful. A beautiful patterned hood and leather zip pulls. It's a beauty. It's waterproof too but thankfully we didn't need to test that out otherwise Edith would have got rather wet in the Connecta.

We didn't want a massive tree , around 5ft would be perfect for us. We looked along where the smaller trees were. It's a really hard job picking out trees. I had no clue. Luckily my husband had spied one that would be perfect. It was full rather than some of the sparse looking ones. We waited for a man to come along with a chainsaw to chop it down for us. He asked what initials to put on the bottom so we knew which tree was ours when we went to pay. My husband very thoughtfully said EW for Edith.

It was a tree for her.

We took it home and spent the afternoon arranging it. Edith helped. As much as she could. Her methods are questionable. She took to throwing the baubles at the tree and hope that they would stick.

It was such a lovely experience and I think we are going to make it a tradition every year!

Have you picked your own tree before? If you have and have any funny stories about the tree not fitting it please let me know! I always enjoy a giggle.

I was very kindly sent the coat from Lighthouse Clothing but all opinions are my own. I mean have you seen how beautiful it is?
