Project garden update.

So things have been a little slow with project garden. Mainly because I've not had much time to get anything done. But while I've been slack nature has been rather busy. The tree has started to bloom, my lily bloomed and yesterday morning I noticed that the fuchsia had started to bloom tiny little buds.  

But yesterday morning we headed to the carboot where I picked up a little pot of daisies and then in the afternoon I sat down  and ordered some seeds (with some help from my mum). As soon as they arrive I can get started hopefully they will be here by the weekend.

My plans are to grow as much from seed as possible but I will probably buy the odd plant here and there especially when they are only 50p! I'm planning to fill my garden with pots of pretty flowers.

So helpfully next garden update I'll have some more progress. I'm hoping that the garden will be looking a lot better by then.

A little garden update.

As it's national gardening week I thought now would be the perfect time to share a little update with you. All the recent sunshine we've been having has had a great effect on my garden and everything has started too bloom. These pretty purple flowers (points to you if you can tell me what they are) have sprung up everywhere. My mum thinks they are weeds but they are far to pretty to pull up so we're calling the wildflowers.

We have a copper birch tree that has started to bloom. Unfortunately there won't be any blossom (boo!) but it's still looking rather pretty. I also have bluebells popping up. They came up with the daffodils and I assumed that they weren't going to flower but they've come out now. Some are such a pretty shade of purple. 

There's a couple of lillies in the garden to and I noticed that they are starting to bloom as well. As for planting I've been told to wait until May just to make sure there's no frost. The Mr made me a plant shelf which I'll show you soon and I can't wait to grown some herbs and pretty flowers. I just need to sit down and decide what to grow.

The garden project - part one.

Yesterday my Mum and I spent the day in the garden. We donned our wellies and spades and started on project garden. When we moved into the house last year we moved in too late to really start work on the garden so we decided that we would just let everything grow but keep on top of it making sure everything was tidy.  My Mum suggested that we then tackle it in the Spring. Which I guess brings us to now. 

I decided that I would share this project not only because I like to share things with you  but because there seems to be a real lack of gardening on blogs and some of the gardening blogs I have found are not the best when you are a beginner! I'm the first to admit I am clueless when it comes to gardening. That is why I invited my Mum over (good old mum) . She's knows her weeds from her wildflowers and I'm going to share her knowledge with you and hopefully I'll pick up some things on the way!

Yesterday we just wanted to get everything tidied up and ready for the warmer days when I can start planting and filling up my garden with flowers. This was easier said than done. The previous tenants did not make our job easy.

The previous tenants decided they would make a pond from a old butler's sink (it would be amazing if we could get it out and clean it up). Which would be wonderful if they had some sort of drainage. But no, it didn't. The water had become stagnant and filled with leaves. It was truly disgusting but my Mum got stuck in and cleared it out for me (see photos below) it is as disgusting as it looks. I'm planning to use it as a bed for flowers which will look a hell of lot better than mouldy water

The other challenge was the gravel and stone in the garden. We can't get rid of it all but my Mum has suggested some plants that will like the terrible soil so hopefully I can get some plants in. We found so many bricks buried in the soil that will come in handy for standing pots. Some of the bricks are in a sunburst and once we have uncovered all of them it will look lovely!

The other problem, was that the lovely previous tenants decided that instead of using the proper lining for gravel they used standard bin liners which were decomposing in the soil and preventing anything from growing. So we pulled those up too. 

The last photo shows the progress we made yesterday but I know that there is still a long long way to go until I can put my feet up and enjoy a pretty garden. Getting into a hot bubble bath was godsend after all the hard work.

How does your garden grow?

It's been a mad month. And after a lot of help, which we are really thankful for, the garden is now beautiful and ready for BBQ's. Having a nice garden is so important to me and I love being able to sit outside on hot sunny day. 

I'm also hoping to get out this weekend to take some outfit pictures. Yay. I haven't taken outfit photo's in so long. Anyway I hope you enjoy the pictures of the garden and I'll keep you updated when the veg have grown.

Lately #35

Things are slowly getting into a routine at last. We still have a bit of work to do but nothing to difficult. The garden is a project but I need someone to help me who is interested in gardening as the Mr isn't. But how pretty are these flowers? 

I have lots of housework to do but instead I'm lazing around watching Once Upon A Time. We got up super early this morning to do a carboot sale so I'm feeling the half five start. I can't wait to climb into bed!
