I have a confession and I'm hugely embarrassed by it. Our garden(s) are a mess! I love having a beautiful garden but I have no motivation what so ever to get out there and do it and the Mr is even worse. So one Sunday we sat down and drew up plans.

When we moved in we inherited the previous tenants garden and they inherited the tenants before. Shrubs have been planted over plants, tree's have been chucked in for good measure and don't even get me started on all that bamboo at the bottom of the garden. All of this in a space of . ...

The front garden has a mound of soil in the corner that I've wanted to get rid of since we moved in nearly two years ago. The rest of the front just needs a tidy up and a hanging basket or two. There's also a beautiful hydrangea bush that grows right in front of the window which means we have to chop in back before it flowers or we can't see outside.

Basically in a nut shell both gardens have been neglected and poorly planned so we're going to do something about it. I say we. I mean we are going to get my Mama and the Mr's brother to help us. They have a passion for all things garden and know where to start. We want to take everything out. Other than the beautiful peonies because they are far to gorgeous to get rid off.

The soil that's left can be grassed over, once we've raked the stones off. We can move the picnic bench to the bottom of the garden and have much more space to have guests over in the summer. We also need to get the landlord to fix the fence and clear out rubbish. It's a massive job and I can't wait for it to be finished.

The part I am most looking forward to is buying a few pretty garden bits, like fairy lights and kitsch "Welcome to my Garden" signs. I'm also planning on painting the shed a pretty colour too. So I hope you'll stick around for the process and hopefully see a dramatic transformation. Wish us luck.

*UPDATE: Mama cleared the front garden for us! Just need to make it look pretty now!*

Gypsophila and cornflowers.

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

It's been a few days since I've posted anything on here. I've worked a lot of hours recently so I've not had the time to photograph or even plan any blog posts. I've got a few days in a row coming up and then my week off so hopefully business will resume!

I thought that I would share with you a pretty spot of my garden. When I planted my seeds back in Spring I hoped that this would work and I'm pleased that it did. The combination of gypsophila and cornflowers look so pretty together. The cornflowers are so pretty, they've sprung up in lots of pretty pastel shades and they really brighten up my garden.

The gypsophila is just beautiful and I'm considering have just that as my wedding flowers, there are some lovely bouquets that use it on Pinterest.

As for the rest of the garden. It needs a lot of tlc. My mum is hopefully going to come over and help me on my week off. It's just a case of tidying everything up but I need a hand to get it done. Gardening by yourself is just boring.

Hopefully it will be ready for cosy nights in front of the chimnea and a mug of hot chocolate in hand!

The neglected garden.

Tuesday, June 03, 2014

Yep. The title of this post sums my garden up at the moment. Neglected. There's far too many weeds that need pulling, dead plants and leaves that need tidying. Not to mention hedges that need a good haircut. Oh so much to do and so little time. I need a big kick up the backside to get it done. Gardener wanted. Apply within.

On the plant side of things it's looking nice. I'm now past that awkward stage between spring flowers dying off and summer flowers blooming. The poppies we had last year are making a return and it won't be too much longer until they are in full bloom.

My potted plants are going quite well. I've had to put slug and snail pellets down to stop those critters from munching on my plants. It's working alright so far. Everything is growing nicely and I can't wait until they bloom so I can see what they are (stupid me didn't write down what was where!)

We should be getting a new bench soon so I can't wait. I'm hoping in will make the wasted space by my backdoor looking more like this. I can't wait to make it look pretty!

Let me know if you have any blog posts about your garden. I need all the inspiration I can get right now!

A boat skirt and my weekend.

Monday, June 02, 2014

Top - New Look
Skirt - Primark
Necklace - eBay

How do days off go so quickly? This weekend has flown by and it feels like I've not had a minute. We went to the cinema Friday evening to see X-Men. I have to say I did enjoy it and the fact that Hugh Jackman is a little bit naked, well that's just an added bonus!

We spent Saturday morning in the town over from ours, browsing the charity shops. I left empty handed which is always a rubbish feeling. We grabbed some lunch then headed home. I baked and then we just relaxed on the sofa finishing off the cinema goodies we had left over.

Yesterday we went out for breakfast with the Mr's family and then headed over to my mums. We talked baking and gardening. Mum knows so much more and I'm totally clueless when it comes to the garden. I need to bribe her to come over and help me out again! Mum then made the most delicious tacos, complete with spicy wedges and Mexican coleslaw. It was delicious and we left with rather full stomachs.

It's been such a lovely weekend but it's gone far too quickly. I'm back at work tomorrow then off again Tuesday I'm hoping to blog and possibly even vlog (maybe, who knows?) about my day.

How was your weekend? Was the sun shining where you are?

Today is the last day to nominate for the Cosmo Blog Awards I can't tell you how grateful I would be if you could nominate we for the best food blog! Follow the link here.

Another little update! #projectgarden

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Wow! Things have got rather busy in the garden! It's down to the combination of sunny days and torrential rain. Everything thing is beginning to bloom and it's difficult to keep up with it all. Gardening is definitely something you have to keep on top of if not you'll turn your back for a second and everything's gone crazy. I'm planning some time this weekend hopefully. Just to give everything a tidy up.

A couple of weeks ago I planted seeds and few of the have started to grow through the soil. I stupidly didn't write what was growing in the pot but hey it will be a lovely surprise come summertime!

I also noticed the other day that the poppies from last year have started to come through again. I had such a lovely shade of purple poppy last year so I'm hoping for the same again.

The peonies have started to come through too which is very exciting as they are such beautiful flowers! I'm not too sure what the pink flowers are or the blue/lilac flowers. I'll have to ask mum on that one!

I'm hoping to get some decorative bits for the garden too. I'm not sure what yet I think an evening of Pinterest (which you should follow me on!) is ahead of me!

Do you have any gardening blog posts or know of any?
