Nails #10

Friday, November 16, 2012

This months Glamour magazine has free Nails Inc nail polish on and they are worth £11 each. Go and grab some. I decided to pick up Motcomb Street and Glamour Glitter and put them over each other.

It's a very very dark blue, I'd hoped it would be more navy. But oh well, I still love it.

Avon Super Extend Extreme Mascara Review!

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

RRP £10*

This month's Marie Claire came with a free Avon mascara. There were three to choose from unfortunately the one I wanted I couldn't find so I settled for this the Super Extend Extreme Mascara. The product claims to lengthen the look of the lashes. I thought great! I have short eye lashes and a bit of length is what I need.

So I tried it out and I'm not really that impressed. I have used Avon mascara's in the past and I have always loved them, but this one isn't that great (for me!). It coats the lashes nicely but there is no added length and no volume my eyelashes look thin and spindly.

However the mascara worked well over my Yves Rocher mascara and de-clumped my lashes. Avon currently has the mascara on offer for £3.99 and if you have long lashes anyway or for false lashes I would recommend this mascara but if you have short stubby lashes like mine I'd go for something that adds a lot more volume and length. Would I purchase? No not this time, this mascara is not really for me, maybe when it drys out a bit it make my lashes look nicer, until then I'll stick with my Yves Rocher.

St Tropez Gradual Tan Review!

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

RRP £7.00*

Now to be honest when I saw that Elle had St Tropez Gradual tan free on this month’s copy I was particularly fussed. Believe it or not I’ve never really used fake tan, and I don’t really want to. I am mainly scared that I will turn into an orange umpa lumpa.

But as it was a gradual tan, and it was free I thought I’d try it.

I applied the tan after a shower. I applied the tan to my torso, legs and across my arms. After a couples of days I saw a difference.

My arms looked more tanned. I am quite olive skinned and keep a tan all year round but I did notice a difference and it looked nice on my arms. My legs however I have noticed no difference at all they are still pale as ever! And as for my torso I am blotchy I suspect this due to areas of dry skin but at Saint Tropez is a premium brand I did expect a little more.

To be honest with you I’m still not sold of fake tan. If I catch a tan great, but I’m not going to make an effort. Tan shammm! That’s what I say!

Balance Me Rose Otto Intensive Lip Salve Review!

Friday, July 06, 2012

RRP £12*

Magazine freebie time again and of course I will be stocking up so expect to see lots of reviews. Glamour Magazine were giving away Balance Me products and the choices were between a moisturiser, cleanser, eye balm and lip salve. I brought the eye cream for Mamma and the lip salve for myself. I didn't buy the other two as I have lots of cleansers and moisturisers to review.

I've needed a lip balm for ages and I regretted not picking on up for L'Occitane but when this came along I snapped it up. The product works well and my lips are silky smooth. The real test will be in winter as my lips can get really dry. I love the herbal smell (much to Mr. Swan's disgust) but it leaves a weird taste in your mouth. Which is bearable but not something I enjoy about the product. However as a magazine freebie you can't go wrong. Would I purchase this for £12, fraid not but as a free product I love it!

Would you like to see a review on Mamma's eye cream? Let me know!

The Porefessional and That Gal Primer Review!

Monday, June 04, 2012

These products are probably the most blogged about over the weekend. As you probably already know by now July's Glamour magazine (out now) had Benefit products as a free gift. I decided not to get the Bad Gal Lash mascara as I have had it before and I desperately wanted to try out the other two products!

The POREfessional claims to "Quickly minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skin tones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals"

I suffer from large pores and after hearing so many good things about this product I had to try it. And I have to say I am impressed. My pores have disappeared. Which is incredible. The POREfessional costs around £23 and I think it's worth every penny. And I think I may even splurge out on it and for me that's a big deal!

It's rare for me to buy two indentical magazines but when you get some amazing products free I had to. So I picked up That Gal Primer too!

"That Gal" Primer claims to "take your complexion from dull to darling! Simply blend it on for the look of brighter, smoother skin. Contains light-reflecting pigments to help brighten all skin tones and raspberry & camomile to soothe skin."

I have never used a primer before so testing this product out was going to be exciting. Again I was really impressed. The primer keeps my make up on all day which is great when I am at work and don't have time to retouch my make up at all. Would I buy this primer? I have to say I much prefer The POREfessional it too keeps my make up in place and minimises my pores perfectly!

Now go out and buy your copies of Glamour magazine!!
